SDL and OpenAL don't have oss at the moment. Anyway, if I eventually stumble on any more info, I'll post back. There was a system restart halfway through the several attempts, and after restarting I couldn't get any audio from UT. The OSS emulation could have something to do with it (now it's back on). It could also have been that an updated library was not being used, as the old version was kept in memory. Probably I'll get the lag again soon enough and I'll figure out the exact source of trouble.

The sound lag problem could have been a conflicting module as I unloaded and loaded (emu8300, adv717x, realtime, ipaq or i2c-dev), but I'm not quite sure what it was. While playing any of the audio modes I get some pauses, which I suppose are for loading sound samples into memory, quite annoying for gameplay. Well, somehow I got rid of the sound lag.įor keepers, here's my UnrealTournament.ini:ĪLAudio.ALAudioSubsystem also works without any lag, but unfortunatly a bit of choppiness is still heard. I had to "killall -9 ut-bin" from a framebuffer console.īTW, I've already emerged sdl and openal without oss, arts and esd, still the same. Last edited by Palhoto on Tue 9:59 am edited 3 times in totalĬan you set the output rate to 48kHz? That's the native speed of the emu10k1.įor Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem can do, but no change in the lag.įor ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem, if I use 48000Hz, Unreal Tournament freezes at startup. I'll try re-emerging sdl and openal without oss, arts and esd. openalrc is being read properly (avoid using OSS) and it is not something else?ĮDIT: I've just emerged libmikmod without esd and oss as use flags, but no such luck. Unfortunately I'm still not getting it right for UT. I used to have the same effect with Neverwinter Nights, but by running If I define devices as alsa or native, the same effect lingers. Those are both ~x86 and produce the same results as the x86 ones.

If I change AudioDevice to ALAudio.ALAudioSubsystem (the default value) I still get sound lag but the sound is also choppy from time to time. I've tried other configurations in Audio.GenericAudioSubsystem, but nothing. The Latency value also has no effect, the default is 40. Now, however, after some updates, I can set the DopplerSpeed to any value without any differences in gameplay. The DopplerSpeed was changed to 0.500000 to stop the "turbo" sound effect. In the ~/.loki/ut/System/UnrealTournament.ini file: I have a SoundBlaster Live using ALSA emu10k1 drivers. I have a 1 to 2 second sound lag in Unreal Tournament (original), 451.
